The end of the Cold War gave way to new
threats to peace and security. Ethnic and religious conflicts, regional
wars, terrorism and human rights violations are erupting with increasing
frequency around the world. While governments and large international
organizations often intervene, there are special situations which can best
be dealt with by smaller and flexible independent organizations.
Conflict Solutions International (CSI) was created to deal with those
challenges.
As a small, independent,
non-partisan organization, CSI serves as a fact-finder, monitor and
mediator. It can also provide key resources such as legal research and
media relations. Central to its mission is not only a role of fact-finder
but also of spokesperson for those peoples and movements whom traditional
media has left behind. In that sense, CSI shares certain goals with
investigative reporters and news organizations. However, it differs from
them in significant ways because it can also offer negotiation and other
expertise and thus use the information towards the goal of conflict
resolution.
Based in Washington, D.C., CSI maintains representatives and advisors in
several countries. Specializing in difficult areas, the organization is
action and crisis oriented. While we remain true to the spirit of our
non-profit status and do not charge for our services, we strive to operate
with the efficiency and flexibility of a private enterprise.
Among
the services we can provide are:
l
Fact finding missions
l
Investigations
l
Human rights and
minority issues monitoring
l

Key to an organization’s effectiveness is the quality and integration of its people. CSI’s officers, directors, advisors, field representatives and mission personnel
bring the organization a unique blend of cultures and professions. They
create a team that combines professionalism with substantial field
experience. The flexibility of the organization and its independence from
governments allow it to operate effectively and lend it credibility. Its
location in Washington, D.C. offers the advantage of access not only to officials
from almost every nation, but also to representatives of various movements
and causes. CSI’s team, however, is more than the sum of its people and the
optimal organizational structure. Our main strength lies in the bond of a
shared vision and the courage to dream.
